Actually, I think that there are no significant different in the interviewing technique of the expert and the other respondent that comes from common people. The point is whatever the social, educational, economic, cultural backgrounds of our respondent, we have to really put respect on them and make them feel comfortable to talk and to share their opinion with us, as the researcher. The main differentiation between the IDI with the expert and with the “common people” is only about the DG(discussion guide). I think that the DG for the expert is more straight to the point, more focused and more related to the things that the expert really know and have a deep understanding about it, so he/she could explain comprehensively about the topic that we asked to them. Generally, an expert like Reza Gunawan isn’t as arrogant as I think. He is so nice, so humble, and very cooperative. There are some main topics that we want to discuss with him.
First, we talk about the type or profile of his client (especially for women) who became his client. And he said that the profile of his clients is very various. They came from entrepreneur world, politician, housewife, or even celebrities. But Reza admitted that most of his client came from middle-up economy class. Why? Because nowadays, there are only few person that already have the expertise to be the Holistic Healing Practitioner (HHP). For more he also explained that this profession is different with psycholog. As the HHP, he believes that natural healing that come from your mind and soul is the best way to solve your problem, not only your mental problem, but also physical problem. Because if you could reduce your level of stress you also could be able to maintain your physical health. He also said that his main responsibility is to help his client to discover about their most critical problem. Why? Because he said that most of the client that came to him didn’t really know about their problem that they suffered about. And if they don’t get to know about the problem, how could do they solve the problem? Reza also said that the advice that could really works for you is come for yourself. No one can tell you that you should do this and that, because actually, the person who really knows you best is you. So, Reza try to be the reflection for his client so they can get really know about their problem and find a way to solve the problem.
Secondly, we also discussed about what his clients needed from him, and why did they come to Reza Gunawan, instead of the other Holistic Healing Practitioner. He said that the clients came to him for instance, of course, because they had a problem, and their problems are really various. They also may attract to come to him because some of them have seen and hear about his seminars and training that he held regularly. But Reza said he also make a limitation for the numbers of the client that he could handle everyday. He said that he only could handle 3 clients per day. It means that every client that want to meet him have to make an appointment before. Beside that, there is also a kind of “selection test” where the clients were being asked to fill the question on the link on the website so Reza could really identify about the goals from the clients. Is he/she only want to play around or are they really want to work hard to find a way to solve their problem. Reza said that it would be much easier to cooperate with the person who really eager to cooperate with him.
The point is, getting the chance to meet him is such as blessing for me because it can broadening my knowledge and information about many things, especially about the hollistic healing, the issue that really close to him.
Welcome to Fatahillah!
